Friendly Fox carries a secret inside — a removable inner cushion filled with spelt husks that holds heat the way a good thing should: slowly, steadily, and for longer than you'd expect. A few minutes in the oven and he becomes the kind of companion you press against an aching tummy, a cold night, a day that went sideways — the warmth releasing gently, unhurried, exactly when it's needed most. In summer, the same inner cushion can be cooled in the refrigerator, and he becomes something else entirely: a small, quiet relief on a warm afternoon.
His cover — warm rust recycled cotton, that hand-drawn face with its whisker-marks and knowing expression, the soft blue overalls with their little red cross — unzips and washes easily, because a fox this useful needs to be able to come back clean and ready. For bumped knees and big feelings and the ordinary difficult moments that a warm fox pressed close can make considerably more manageable. Which is, it turns out, quite a lot of moments.
