Twelve watercolor cards, one for each month and a final one for the first birthday, each paired with a little vintage-inspired toy illustrated in soft, sunny colors. A silver heart rattle tied with a ribbon opens the year, followed by a pair of snuggling squirrels, three pastel ducklings, a pull-along dog on red wheels, a woolly lamb, a wide-eyed bunny with its dolly friends, a spinning top, a row of bowling pins, a music box on a stack of blocks, and a rocking horse waiting at the finish line. Each month number is lettered in its own gentle shade, and sprigs of wildflowers and olive leaves tie the whole collection together.
Set the baby beside the card, snap the photo, and repeat. By the end of the year there are twelve small pictures, each with a number on it, showing just how much changed between one card and the next.
The set arrives tied with a sage-blue ribbon, so it's already halfway to being a gift and labeled in French (mois and an) for month and year. A lovely gift for an expecting parent, a baby shower, or anyone who knows the first year deserves better documentation than a camera roll.
