Leo has big plans. He is simply not entirely sure yet what they are. There is something wonderfully unfinished about a lion cub — that sense of enormous potential sitting quietly inside a creature who still has so much world left to discover. Leo carries this perfectly. His warm golden velvet body, his small round ears tucked close to that oversized head, his long unhurried limbs arranged with the easy sprawl of someone for whom dignity is still a future consideration — all of it speaks of a creature at the very beginning of something significant.
The mane is the thing, though. Soft ochre linen gathered generously around that beautiful face — not quite the full glory it will one day become, but already unmistakably promising. Already suggesting that when Leo eventually decides what his plans are, they will be considerable. The golden embroidered nose catches the light with the particular warmth of a creature who runs entirely on sunshine and good intentions.
He sits with his head bowed slightly forward, the posture of someone thinking something through — not troubled, simply occupied with the interesting business of being young and curious and alive to everything. Small enough to tuck under an arm, substantial enough to carry everywhere that matters. For the child who is also, in their own way, right at the beginning of something. Patiently becoming.
Véronique Lacaze is an interior designer and graduate of the Arts Décoratifs de Paris. She began her career at Printemps where she became the project manager for the animated Christmas windows. She then began to design the Printemps mascots, the famous characters of the Boulevard Haussmann that, at the end of each year, make children and adults dream alike. It was a magical experience for her. Creating characters for children, seeing them come to life in the shop windows... Véronique Lacaze feels like a real Geppetto!
