Carapau is a Portuguese home decoration brand that creates contemporary and high-quality product. Their focus is on sustainable design, color, and the reinvention of centuries old traditional Portuguese materials. At the core of their products is the use of Burel wool, one of the most durable fabrics in the world. The wool is collected from mainly Bordaleira sheep, who live in the Serra de Estrela mountains of Portugal, where they are allowed to happily graze on the slopes. The Burel Factory partners with local shepherds to harvest and transform this wool so there is zero waste and zero use of chemicals in the wool treatment. This results in a sustainable, eco-friendly product that helps develop the local economy.
