More to the Story
Mbare's tin animals are hand made from recycled tin hand-painted with bright, intricate patterns. Old tin cans and other scraps from the industrial areas of Harare, Zimbabwe are cut, snipped, bent and hammered into creatures native of the land. Once the animal is created, artists from Zimbabwe's Weya Community finish each piece by hand painting it with the unique patterns that make these pieces so amazing. The pain staking detail and design work makes them truly beautiful pieces of art, with no two exactly alike.
