Yellow Scope wants girls to have all the opportunities in the world. But sadly, when it comes to science, many girls are getting the message that it's not for them - it's for boys. This message is reinforced in the toy aisle, where chemistry and physics kits are targeted to boys, and spa and beauty kits, masquerading as science kits, are targeted to girls. Yellow Scope was founded by scientists and moms, Marcie Colledge, PhD and Kelly McCollum, MPH. They met volunteering at their daughters’ school, running family STEM programs. Yellow Scope grew out of their shared passion for science, education, and closing the gender gap in science. Each kit is lovingly assembled by hand in Portland, Oregon.
