Description

The Wooden Nightingale Bird Call is very simple to play — turn the wood and friction occurs against the metal with the song of the nightingale. Hold the metal end of the bird-call in the left hand and with thumb and forefinger gently turn the wooden part whilst exerting a light and varying pressure. Handmade in France, this wooden bird call is a nature toy loved by young and old, by families, country walkers, gardeners, ornithologists, nature lovers everywhere. 

These bird-calls are always carefully packed in small wooden boxes like pencil cases. A sketch of the Nightingale can be found on the front, and its name and the instructions for use are printed inside on the bottom.

Created in the 1970’s by the French cottage industry, natural quality materials are used, mainly wood (box, beech, and pine whenever possible from managed forests), leather, and metals such as brass.
